Ministry of Altar Serving
Altar Servers assist the Priest before, during and after the Mass and is a ministry of great responsibility.
There is a great need for people who are available to help at weekend masses. Often the Parish priests are required to do multiple services during the day and need reliable people who can help during the service and afterwards can help tidy and lock up the church.
The acolyte is instituted for service at the altar and to assist the Priest and Deacon. It is his place principally to prepare the altar and the sacred vessels and, if necessary, to distribute the Eucharist to the faithful as an extraordinary minister.
In the ministry of the altar, the acolyte has his own proper functions (cf. nos. 187- 193 of the General Instruction of the Roman Missal), which he must carry out in person.
We are always looking for more volunteers to be part of our ministry.
Acolytes are male and over the age of 18 years.
Any men of the parish who would like to be considered for this ministry are warmly invited to contact the Parish Office on (02) 9818 5856 or email firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com
We are looking forward to welcoming you.
