There are seven sacraments of the Catholic Church: Baptism, Eucharist, Confirmation, Reconciliation, Anointing of the sick, Marriage, Holy Orders.

They are organised into three groups:

  1. The Sacraments of Initiation: – Through the reception of  Baptism, Confirmation and the Eucharist, one becomes a full-fledged member of the Catholic church.
  2. The Sacraments of Healing: – Reconciliation or Penance and Anointing of the Sick
  3. The Sacraments of Service: – Holy Orders and Matrimony/ Marriage

All of the sacraments were instituted by Christ Himself and each is an outward sign of an inward grace. When we participate in them worthily, each provides us with graces—with the life of God in our soul. Through worship, we give to God, that which we owe Him. It is through the sacraments that He gives us the graces necessary to live a truly human life.
